Talk on historic environments
A member of Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust will give a talk on historic environmental projects.
Sophie Nicol will visit members of Abertay Historical Society (AHS) in Dundee tomorrow to deliver a lecture entitled From Hilltop to Shoreline: The Results from Tay Landscape Partnership’s Historic Environment Projects.
Ms Nicol will discuss some of the key projects delivered as part of the Tay Landscape Partnership scheme, led by Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust.
This involved looking for evidence of early settlers, various hill fort excavations and conservation work across the Tay Estuary area.
Ms Nicol worked as a field archaeologist in Scotland for eight years before joining the Heritage Trust in 2012 and has since undertaken various roles, including managing all archaeology and working on heritage projects as part of the Tay Landscape Partnership.
She stepped in due to a scheduled lecture with historian Mark Nixon being cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
Kenneth Baxter, AHS president, said: “We are sure Sophie’s talk will be of great interest to our members and the general public.”
The event will take place in Lecture Theatre Two, the Dalhousie Building, Dundee University.
Doors open at 6pm with the lecture beginning at 6.30.
