Man drove car at former partner

-

A man has admitted he assaulted his ex-partner by hitting her with a car.

Lee Cargill, 40, of Steward’s House, Pitlochry Golf Course, Pitlochry, intentionally drove the car at the woman, hitting her on the body.

He also admitted closing a car door on her hand.

Perth Sheriff Court heard the offence happened on July 30 last year at Netherton of Fonab, Pitlochry.

Sheriff Gillian Wade deferred the case for a background report.

Cargill is due to return for sentence at the court on March 14.

Meanwhile, Karl Simpson, 28, of Lowson Avenue, Forfar, was sentenced to four and half months in jail after he was caught with cannabis in Perth prison.

Depute fiscal Robbie Brown told the court prison staff detected a “strong odour” coming from Simpson’s cell at 9.20am.

“Officers went into the accused’s cell and saw him smoking, and assumed it was cannabis,” he said.

“They found the drug in Simpson’s trousers but didn’t test what he was smoking.”

Mr Brown said eight grammes of the substance were found.

Solicitor Pauline Cullerton said her client had not been smoking the drug but admitted he had it in his possession.

Simpson admitted having the class B drug in Perth prison on August 30 last year.
