Tagive to make long-awaited Warriors debut

-

Australian winger Ratu Tagive will make his first Glasgow appearance this season in tonight’s Guinness PRO14 contest against Dragons.

The 26-year-old suffered an achilles injury during pre-season and has recently been building up his fitness while playing for Currie in the BT Premiership.

Tagive scored a try against Dragons on his home debut in March.

Head coach Dave Rennie said: “Ratu has worked hard on his rehab and has played a bit of club footy the past few weeks. He’s a hell of an athlete and we’re excited to see how he goes.”

Ruaridh Jackson, Lee Jones, Nick Grigg, Adam Hastings and captain Rob Harley will all start in Newport after being released from Scotland duty while Henry Pyrgos and D’Arcy Rae will be on the bench.

Meanwhile Scotland newcomer Murray McCallum will be back in action for Edinburgh when they face Leinster at Myreside tonight.

The former Dunfermline RFC youth player made his international debut in Scotland’s opening NatWest 6 Nations defeat by Wales last weekend but has been released for club duty.

Scotland squad players Mark Bennett and Nathan Fowles will also start while Magnus Bradbury and Neil Cochrane are released from international duty for places on the bench.

Edinburgh also welcome back centre Chris Dean following a four-week injury lay-off.

Head coach Richard Cockerill said: “This will be a test for us mentally.”
