Leap of faith for Nepal charity

-

Two supporters of the Perthshire-based charity Bring Back The Smile To Nepal will be going the extra mile next month in a major fundraising effort.

Anna Gurung, who founded the group following the devastating earthquake that struck Nepal in April 2015, will be returning to the country to mark the third anniversary of the disaster.

It comes as the charity steps up its house rebuilding programme in Nepal.

Before then, she and her friend Paula McCruden will be completing a Mad March of fundraising, with one strenuous and one scary activity.

The two girls will be running the Inverness half-marathon next month, before they plunge 50 metres in a tandem buggy bridge swing from the Garry Bridge, near Pitlochry.

“We must be as mad as the proverbial March hare, but our projects in Nepal are really important to us and we’ll do whatever we can to raise funds,” said Anna.

To support the pair’s efforts by donating or sponsoring them, go to the charity’s website at www.bringbackthesmiletonepal.org.

Supporters can also follow their progress on the charity’s Facebook or Twitter pages.

Nepal was hit by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake just before midnight on April 25 2015, killing 9,000 people.

The charity was founded to help families build temporary shelters to protect them against monsoon rains.
