Top business leaders from Tayside and Fife recognised

awards: Institute of Directors has announced its annual nominees

Several business leaders from Tayside and Fife have been recognised in the nominees for the Institute of Directors’ annual awards.

Alban Denton of salmon company Loch Duart Ltd, which has part of its multimillion-pound operation in Montrose, has been nominated for the director of a large business award.

Celine Sinclair of The Yard, which runs adventure play sites in Dundee and Kirkcaldy, is nominated in the small business and third sector categories.

Ross Turner from Kinross-based scaffolding firm Span Access Solutions is also recognised in two categories – emerging director and the Fife and Central Scotland regional award.

Mike Dale, from Dundee-based personal development group Insights, is up for the non-executive award.

The regional director of the year nominees for Tayside are Tony Banks of the Balhousie Care Group, Cara Mackay of Gillies and Mackay, and Helen Sykes of Helm Training Limited.

David Watt, executive director of the Institute of Directors in Scotland, said: “The Director of the Year Awards are an excellent opportunity to honour those at the top of Scotland’s businesses.

“These women and men don’t just run businesses, they are leaders and their skills are vital to building Scotland’s future, particularly during economic and political uncertainty.

“These leaders are at the top of their game and have much to share, not only within the confines of their business or sector, but also to society as a whole.

“The lessons they have learned along the way can contribute to finding solutions to wider social issues.

“We have 37 business leaders up for awards this year, representing the true breadth of industries and sectors we have in Scotland.”

This year’s ceremony will take place at the Crowne Plaza Glasgow on March 22.
