Grange setting the pace
Grange lead the way in Division 1, closely followed by Kelburne and then a little bit further back by Grove Menzieshill, writes our men’s hockey corespondent.
With Grange beating Dundee Wanderers 6-2 last Saturday it will be interesting to see how well Menzieshill face up to the challenge after their relegation in the EuroHockey Indoor championships.
Kelburne should easily defeat Clydesdale to maintain their challenge, six points behind Grange but with a game in hand.
Watsonians and Gordonians are the main contenders for promotion from Division 2 but Perthshire could cause an upset when they host Gordonians. Such an upset would also see them register as possible promotion candidates, possibly along with Carnegie, who are similarly placed to Perthshire and host Granite City Wanderers.
Ten straight defeats is certainly not encouraging for Harris but their later performances in November merited better outcomes.
St Andrews University made a poor restart two weeks ago against Gordonians but at least have had a couple of games in preparation.
Monarchs are well down Division 3, but opponents ESM would be only a point better off should Monarchs win their game in hand.
Menzieshill II could do with a few points to move themselves away from the lower reaches of Regional 1, but these are unlikely to come against leaders Clydesdale II.
