Storie will ‘get stuck in’

-

Craig Storie can kickstart his career at Brechin City, according to his new manager Darren Dods.

The pair were team-mates at Forfar Athletic when the young midfielder spent time at Station Park on loan.

After getting a first-team chance at parent club Aberdeen, the 22-year-old fell out of Derek McInnes’s plans and was released by the Pittodrie boss.

Dods, who has brought in Dundee centre-back Kosta Gadzhalov on a month’s loan, is confident that Storie can now make a big impression at Glebe Park and show why many predicted a bright future for him.

“Craig has trained this week and he’ll be available,” said Dods.

“He’s not played many games and, if he doesn’t start (against Championship leaders St Mirren this afternoon), he’s one we could look to bring on later in the match.

“I played with Craig at Forfar and was really impressed with him.

“For whatever reason, it didn’t work out in the end at Aberdeen. “He got a couple of injuries. “He’s still only 22 and is the type of player who will get stuck in and will have the right attitude.”

Dods, who has been pleased with the impact made by his other recent recruits, took heart from their late defeat to Falkirk seven days ago even if luck continues to desert them.

He said: “It was typical that we subbed James Dale because we didn’t want to run the risk of him getting a second yellow and the guy who replaced him, Aron Lynas, gets a straight red for a two-footed challenge.

“We’d done well for long spells and had chances.

“We held out until the 93rd minute, when they scored after the ball had been bobbling about in the box. “The players did really well.

“It was an improvement from the game against Falkirk before that.

“That was the longest we’ve gone without conceding, which is a positive,” he added.

Lynas is suspended.
