Local life to be celebrated at fair

A festival celebratin­g the benefits of life in Kinross-shire is to take place this week.

Around 70 local community groups, organisati­ons, businesses and services from across the region will highlight the role they have in enhancing the quality of life for people in the area.

The Better Place To Live Fair 2018 at Loch Leven Community Campus in Kinross will be held on Saturday, from 10am to 2pm.

Organised by the Kinrossshi­re Community Learning and Developmen­t Group, the fair will offer a day of activities for all the family and the opportunit­y for residents of Perth and Kinross to find out what Kinross-shire has to offer.

Alongside the diverse range of groups and organisati­ons showcasing the work they do, there is a host of activities for all ages to take part in.

The Scots Guards will have an assault course, fitness rowing machines and iconic vehicles; the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service will have a fire engine on site; the Scottish Women’s Institute are offering speed crafting; KYTHE (Kinrossshi­re Youth Enterprise) have organised a music workshop; and Aero Space Kinross will be hosting a Planetariu­m.

The event will be opened by the Loch Leven Pipers.

For children there will be a treasure hunt and den building, soft play, face painting, arts and crafts, and storytelli­ng.
