Violet keep up pressure with Lochore win

-

Second-placed Violet maintained their challenge at the top following a 2-0 win at Lochore Welfare with a goal in each half.

Ross Bell was on target before the break with Gav Thomson getting the second.

New signing Kamil Kadela from Tayport came on as a second half substitute. It is debut second time round having first joined the Pansies in season 2010/2011 from local amateur side Polonia Dundee AFC.

Meanwhile, East Craigie came from behind to win 3-1 and deal a blow to Scone Thistle’s promotion hopes at Craigie Park.

Ben Moffat squeezed home a corner from the left at the far post after 11 minutes to put the visitors in front. But within seven minutes, the Shipbuilders were level through Nik Mann.

Still all square at the break, Sean Reekie headed the home side ahead and Findlay Baird’s stoppage-time third was well deserved after his side were on top after the break.

Coupar Angus were 5-2 winners over Forfar Albion at Foxhall Park.

The foundations of their victory were laid by a three-goal salvo from Alan Leith, Lee Maloney and Joe Sturrock.

George Masterson pulled one back two minutes before the break and Ross Davidson further reduced the deficit on 64 minutes.

However, Arron Fraser added the hosts fourth after 73 minutes with Stuart Banks bagging a fifth from a last-minute penalty.

The only goal of a lacklustre encounter earned Newburgh victory away to Arbroath Vics.

Mark Perrie scored from a Stefan Fortune assist 13 minutes from time to end Burgh’s nine game winless run.

With their game at Blairgowrie one of three North League postponements, league leaders North End have arranged a friendly against Lochee United at the GA Arena tonight. Kick-off is 7pm.
