Craigen still believes in Pars’ play-off push
Midfielder insists ‘talented’ squad can still reach top four

Dunfermline midfielderJames Craigen refused to accept defeat in his side’s quest for a play-off place and believes an elusive win can drastically improve the Pars’ promotion prospects.
The Pars played out an uneventful goalless draw at Queen of the South which leaves both sides five points adrift of Dundee United in the final play-off position.
Craigen admitted the draw gives Dunfermline a difficult predicament but he believes they possess the requisite talent to fulfil their promotion ambitions.
He said: “A point isn’t the result we wanted as we need three points and we are frustrated yet again.
“I felt we shaded it today even though it wasn’t the prettiest of games. We are disappointed because a draw isn’t good enough for us at the moment.
“There’s 11 games to go and 33 points to play for so we know we have to just keep going. We have a great squad, full of talent and once you are in the play-offs anything can happen.
“Dundee United had the extra games last season and managed to get to the final but we can’t think of that at the moment and just need to make sure we finish fourth.”
Allan Johnston has changed his formation in the last two games and positioned experienced striker Nicky Clark at the top of a midfield diamond behind two strikers.
Craigen believes his side’s ability to change players and formations will be an advantage as the season draws to a close.
“I like playing more centrally, it allows me to run out wide despite playing in the middle. The competition is healthy and keeps everyone on their toes”,” he added.
The Pars went into the game knowing a win would boost their play-offs hopes and the visitors made a lively start.
Declan McManus collected the ball on the halfway line, dodged two defenders before firing a powerful effort towards goal that Queens goalkeeper Jack Leighfield just managed to tip over the bar.
Despite the lethal Stephen Dobbie stinging the palms of Lee Robinson just after the break, the visitors created the best openings during the second period.
Leighfield tipped a dipping Clark drive over the bar before referee Don Robertson was at the centre of a moment of real controversy.
Kyle Jacobs appeared to rugby tackle McMauns as he raced clear on goal but the referee adjudged there to be a covering defender and only booked Jacobs.
