McCann plans to be positive at Celtic Park

-

Dundee manager Neil McCann insisted they will still go to Celtic Park in search of victory in Wednesday’s Ladbrokes Premiership match.

The Dark Blues face a big task away to Brendan Rodgers’ men as they strive for a return to winning ways but McCann is refusing to go to Glasgow and simply let the Hoops run all over them.

McCann said: “We’ve got to get ourselves back up for Wednesday. Yes, we’re hurting but it’s good to have another game so quickly.

“We’ll go to Parkhead with a positive attitude and try to get a positive result.

“We went down there earlier in the season and almost got a very good result so we’ll have another go at it.

“I always like my team to approach things in that manner and that’s what we’ll be doing come Wednesday.

“It’s going to be difficult now to get into the top six but we won’t give up on that just yet.” They all want it and Neil McCann talked about it in the build up to this game. The C word. Consistency.

Unfortunately, the most significant consistency for Dundee this year has been playing well, dominating opponents and not putting them away.

And in the context of matches against Motherwell, Craig Tanner has consistently scored against them.

Dundee can forget about the top six now.

To have any hope of reeling in Kilmarnock they needed to win on Saturday.

The chances of them improving their league position in what remains of the pre-split programme look slim as well, as their run-in to the divide is as tough as they come.

The consistency their manager has been looking for all season may well yet be needed though – to make sure they don’t get dragged into the play-off position that the quality of their football this season wouldn’t merit.
