Livestock going under the hammer in Forfar

Lawrie & Symington, Forfar, had forward 19 prime cattle, two OTM and 765 prime sheep on Wednesday.

PRIME CATTLE Bullocks (6) sold to a top of 2.50p per kilo for a 626 kilo Limousin from Nethermyres and bought by the firm of WE Fairlie Ltd, Letham, and to £1,577.16 for a 674 kilo Limousin also from Nethermyres and also bought by WE Fairlie Ltd to average 2.30p per kilo.

Heifers (13) sold to a top of 2.50p per kilo (twice) both from Nethermyres, once for a 583 kilo Limousin bought by the firm of JB Penman, Crail, and second for a 559 kg Limousin bought by the firm of WE Fairlie Ltd and also to £1,523.34 for a 651 kilo Limousin from Mill of Inverarity and bought by the firm of WE Fairlie Ltd to average 2.36p per kilo. Leading prices per kilo: Bullocks – Lim 2.34p, 2.32p, 2.30p, 2.25p Nethermyres; heifers – Lim 2.44p, 2.41p and 2.40p Woodhead of Mailer; Char 2.40p Mill of Inverarity, 2.38p Craignathro.
