Apprenticeship opportunities
MSP Roseanna Cunningham paid a visit to SSE’s training centre in Perth yesterday.
The visit marked the halfway point in National Apprenticeship Week and the energy firm’s campaign to encourage more young people to consider an apprenticeship as they decide what career path to take.
The environment, climate change and land reform secretary watched as some of the company’s current crop of trainees were put through the rigorous exercises they must complete before taking up roles in the field to help keep the country’s lights on.
“I was delighted to get the opportunity to meet apprentices and school pupils at SSE’s training centre this morning,” said Ms Cunningham.
“It is great to see SSE investing in apprentices and Scotland’s future workforce as part of Scottish Apprenticeship Week.
“Apprenticeships are life-changing opportunities – providing the chance not only to work and earn, but also to achieve an industry recognised qualification to support future career ambitions.
“We recognise that apprenticeships are an essential way for all employers in Scotland, regardless of size and sector, to develop their workforce and contribute to business and economic growth.”
SSE’s apprenticeship programme closes on March 18.
