Swinney in Perth to look at foundation apprenticeships

Deputy First Minister and Education Secretary John Swinney visited Perth College UHI where he met some of the people involved in the delivery of foundation apprenticeships.

This included representatives from the college, Skills Development Scotland, Developing the Young Workforce and local schools.

Mr Swinney also spoke to school pupils studying towards a foundation apprenticeship.

Perth College UHI has offered the apprenticeships to pupils after taking part in a pilot programme in 2015.

Mr Swinney said: “The apprenticeships provide a chance to achieve an industry-recognised qualification.”
