Romantic comedy with a twist

-

A Perth-based Christian drama group will present a new play next weekend.

Burning Issues will present their latest production, Not of This World, by award-winning American playwright Sandy Boikian, at the National Christian Outreach Centre on Friday and Saturday.

The play is billed as a romantic comedy with a sinister twist.

Barry Brannen, Burning Issues director, said: “Anyone familiar with CS Lewis’s classic Screwtape Letters will see the didactic similarities here.

“There’s more to this world than meets the eye, and forces in the spiritual realm can influence what goes on in the lives of ordinary people.

“Ultimately, our heroine is confronted with the reality of good and evil, and has to make her choice.

“Burning Issues are returning to their comedy roots with this unusual and engaging production.”

California-based Ms Boikian has said she is impressed by the cast, direction and staging.”

The performances will take place at 7.30pm on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are priced £6 for adults and £3 for under-12s and are available from The Mustard Seed Bookshop at the National Christian Outreach Centre, Riggs Road, Perth.

Burning Issues was formed in 2003. It is made up of 15 people from Perth Christian Fellowship and local churches.
