‘Dynamic’ charity praised by MSP for making lives better

-

A Perth charity has been praised for improving the lives of thousands of people every year.

Mid Scotland and Fife MSP Alexander Stewart said PKAVS was a “dynamic local charity with a big heart”.

Conservative Mr Stewart, the shadow minister for local government, spoke after meeting PKAVS chief executive Paul Graham and his team at the Gateway, North Methven Street.

He said: “From carers young and old, to adults recovering from mental ill-health, minority communities, volunteers, and voluntary groups, its volunteers work tirelessly throughout Perth and Kinross to improve wellbeing, connect communities and help people to realise their potential.

“Every year, they improve the quality of life for over 5,000 local people. Their dedicated staff and volunteers are committed to enhancing the lives of people living in Perth and Kinross, by working alongside them to succeed.

“There is a great need in the third sector for charities like PKAVS.

“And through face-to-face support as well as working in partnership with others, they help individuals to overcome personal barriers and ensure they have every chance to achieve their goals in life.”

Mr Graham added: “We know there is always scope for us to improve our services and practice.

“During the past year, we have started to look at how we fundamentally deliver our services, evaluating if they are fit for the future and what changes can be made to ensure they create the life-improving outcomes and impacts that we aim to deliver.”
