Lorry fire causes tailbacks on busy A9 near Blair Atholl
A burning lorry forced the closure of the A9 in Highland Perthshire.
Emergency services were called to the scene, about a mile south of Blair Atholl, just after 3pm.
Firefighters dealt with the blaze, while north and southbound vehicles queued up at either side of the closure zone.
A fire service spokeswoman said the blaze was contained to the rear of the lorry, which was being used to transport a load of plastic piping.
The incident was brought under control at around 3.45pm. Both carriageways were reopened about 10 minutes later. Witnesses said the lorry suffered extensive damage.
