Tree-felling work alongside A9

-

Work on a £120,000 landscape improvement project begins today on the edge of Perth.

Bear Scotland said the project will get under way on the southbound A9, between the A9/ A85 junction and the Broxden roundabout, for two weeks.

The scheme involves cutting overgrown scrub and vegetation, as well as thinning the treeline in a bid to promote healthier growth of the remaining trees on the southbound verge.

Several trees will be chopped down for the safety of motorists and local residents, the roads authority said.

The work will take place outwith rush hour times, between 9.30am and 3.30pm on weekdays only.

One lane of the southbound A9 will be closed to ensure workers’ safety.

Bear Scotland has been working with all relevant stakeholders to inform them of the project and share information about the traffic managements that will be in place.

Andy Thompson, the organisation’s north-east representative, said: “These works will involve our landscaping teams clearing some of the vegetation next to the A9, promoting healthier growth but also ensuring that any trees or branches that could pose a hazard are removed.

“The works are taking place during the daytime in off-peak hours, and our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.”
