Dundonald see title bid fade away

-

It was a bad day for Courier Country’s top flight clubs as all four in action lost.

For the second week, Dundonald Bluebell lost to title rivals, which leaves any aspirations of becoming champions remote.

After last week’s 5-0 beating at Linlithgow, title favourites Bonnyrigg Rose were 3-0 winners at Moorside Park.

The game was effectively over by half-time with the visitors three up thanks to two Kieran McGachie goals and a Kyle Wilson counter.

Compounding Bluebells’ disappointing day, Stuart Walton was sent off in the second half.

Despite being without six players, Broughty Athletic were only narrowly beaten away to leaders Penicuik, losing a closely-contested affair 2-1.

Sean Jamieson put the hosts ahead after 29 minutes, but Derryn Kesson’s third of the season squared matters after 51 minutes. However, within five minutes Aaron Sommerville volleyed in what proved to be the winner.

Hill of Beath went down 2-1 at home to Linlithgow Rose.

Blair Batchelor put the Prestonfield outfit ahead after nine minutes. Darrin Wright levelled with just under 15 minutes left, only for Roddy MacLennan to snatch the winner three minutes later.

Camelon’s 4-1 win at Jeanfield Swifts leaves the Perth side still occupying the relegation play-off spot.

Goals from Jordan Herron and Alan Docherty put the visiting Mariners two up.

Ross Gunnion’s side got a foothold in the game when Tony Holt scored from a spotkick. An Alan Sneddon double either side of the interval scuppered Swifts’ hopes.
