Falconer to headline charity gig

-

Musician Kyle Falconer is to headline a Dundee fundraising concert for sick children.

The View frontman will be playing alongside a number of city bands to raise money for the Help for Kids charity.

Kyle, who is originally from Dryburgh, will take to the stage as part of a bill featuring other local musicians and bands including Stevie Anderson, Paper Tiger, Gav McGinty and Atlantic Avenue.

The event is being organised by Lochee’s Lianne Carr, lead singer of Dundee band Melodia, which will also perform.

The 35-year-old, who also heads up Coconut Groove, said: “The event is in aid of Help for Kids for children around Dundee.

“That is the best thing about Help for Kids – the money raised is distributed around the city and not the whole of the UK like some other charities.

“I think this event is a great way to get the community together, have a good time and raise money for kids who could really benefit from it.

“To have Kyle involved is amazing – and he has just had a child so it is fitting.

“It is only £5 a ticket too – just to see Kyle on his own would usually cost three times that.”

Help for Kids is a children’s charity based in the heart of Dundee.

The organisation aims to support local children through the provision of individual grants, as well as funding for clubs and organisations.

Lianne and partner Paul Wyllie, of Paper Tiger, are one of four couples competing to win a £10,000 wedding in a competition being run by radio station Wave 102 and sponsored by DoubleTree by Hilton.

The couple raising the most funds will win an all-inclusive ceremony at the firm’s Dundee venue.

The music event will be held at Clark’s on Lindsay Street on Thursday.

Doors open at 7.30pm.
