Pacha aims to make final few games ‘exciting’

-

Dundee Stars travel to Guildford Flames tonight as they look to get back to winning ways.

Omar Pacha’s side’s only have their pride to play for after disappointing defeats at the weekend ended Elite League play-off hopes.

Pacha sees this as a chance for the younger players to gain more experience and for the rest of the squad to show off their ability.

Pacha – who has extended his stay in Tayside for another three years – says that the three remaining league games will give every player in the squad a chance to “sell themselves” and “show what they can do”.

He said: “I was satisfied with the push the guys the made through the second half of the year and to take it down to the final few games was exciting.

“Unfortunately we fell a bit short of making the play-offs, so that is something we can build on for next year.

“We really want to finish strong and give the fans the positive end to the season they deserve for sticking by us through it all.”

Stars could welcome Joey De Concilys back in to the line-up after he sat out of Sunday’s game against Fife Flyers while back-up keeper Craig Holland may get some ice time in the final few games.

Sixth-place Flames – who have beaten Stars three times this season – are without forward Liam Stewart for the rest of the season.

Meanwhile Fife Flyers remain in third place after being edged 2-1 at Nottingham Panthers last night.

Todd Dutiaume’s men have 68 points from 54 games while the two points helped Panthers move on to 65 points and leapfrog Guildford into fifth position.

Dan Spang grabbed the opening goal after seven minutes and Panthers went two ahead through Alexander Mokshantsev on 23 minutes.

Fife, who host Sheffield Steelers tonight, grabbed a second period consolation through Carlo Finucci.
