A fatty phenomenon

There, curious lumps of white goo washing up on the shore have been identified as wartime lard, sent to the bottom of the ocean when a cargo ship was bombed in 1941.

Maybe not the tastiest reminder of a day at the seaside but it will be around long after your ice lolly has melted.
