HOME COUNTRIES EVENT Four Fife AC athletes are included in the Scottish Schools line-up to compete at the Home Countries Internatio­nal Cross-Country at Wollaton Park, Nottingham, on Saturday, writes our athletics correspond­ent.

Scottish Schools champion Anna Hedley (Madras) features in the junior girls alongside Fife colleague Anna Dalglish (Dundee High School), while Iain McWhinnie (Balwearie High) represents the inter boys and Robert Sparks (Madras) the senior boys.

STIRLING TO FORE Scotland’s Hazel MacGarvie and England’s Laird Shephard, both from Stirling University, secured dominating victories at a windswept and wet Western Gailes links in the BUCS West of Scotland Trophy students’ tournament over 54 holes.

In the women’s team event, the Stirling I line-up, consisting of MacGarvie, Gemma Batty and Chloe Goadby, won by 12 shots from runners-up Maynooth.

In the men’s team event, Stirling II achieved a five-stroke win from runners-up St Andrews I.
