Blue Brazil will go again in battle to beat the drop

-

Cowdenbeath’s recent revival appeared to take a knock when they went down 3-0 to Clyde in midweek, but manager Gary Bollan reckons that there will be no hangover as the result was harsh on his men.

While the Blue Brazil were losing the sides immediately above them, Berwick Rangers and Edinburgh City, picked up a point each. However, Bollan is not for giving anything up as he explained: “It was never a 3-0 game and I have told the players to move on from it. We lost a goal but we were doing well against a side who are flying just now and scored a goal to make it 1-1 just before half-time.

“It was disallowed and there is no argument that I can see for why it did not stand. You want referees to always get the big calls right and the one on Tuesday did not.

“We had spells on top and were creating chances however it is done now and our thoughts turn to Stenhousemuir.”

With six games to go a gap of 10 points needs to be closed to avoid a second season running of scrapping it out in the pyramid play-offs, but Bollan is convinced his men are in the right frame of mind for the task ahead.

He said: “I do not think our confidence will have taken a hit as a result and we will be up for this game. We faced Stenhousemuir just 11 days ago and secured a hard fought for win.

“We have not giving anything up and they need a win to get their play-off chances back on track so it will be an intense game.

“Despite the other results there is still plenty to play for at Cowdenbeath.”

Experienced campaigner Bryan Gilfillan looks set to return to the heart of Bollan’s defence with only keeper Joe McGovern and Ryan Connelly missing through injury.
