A total of 680 runners completed the Grangemouth Round the Houses 10km road race, incorporating the Scottish Universities Championships. Will Mackay (Aberdeen AAC) finished a clear winner in 31 mins 15 secs, followed home by Dundee Hawkhill under-20 junior James Donald, 22 seconds adrift. Kirkcaldy athlete Stephie Pennycook was placed 19th overall, first female, also claiming the universities title representing Edinburgh University. Pennycook clocked 34 mins 12 secs and had 20 seconds to spare ahead of runner-up Fiona Brian (Metro Aberdeen), 26th overall. Shadrack Tanui (Kenya), who also sometimes goes by the name of Kipkosgei, headed a cast of thousands at the Manchester Marathon timed at 2 hrs 21 mins 20 secs. Dundee Road Runner Robbie Dunlop finished 125th, clocking 2:48.41. Danni Nimmock (City of Norwich) took the women’s title in 2:38.29. Fife AC’s Megan Crawford placed 10th female, 2:55.40.
