Violet stage comeback as North End cruise to victory

-

There was no change at the top as Violet and North End won as expected.

Violet had the tougher task, against Forfar Albion, coming from behind to win 2-1.

The visitors prop up the league but were a goal ahead at the interval thanks to Mike McBrearty.

A double from JJ Reid and a Craig Batchelor strike ensured the Pansies stayed top.

North End cruised to a 4-0 win over Brechin Vics with Nathan Scott scoring a double. Ryan Rigden and Kieran Sturrock were also on target.

Luncarty maintained their outside hopes of promotion by thrashing Arbroath Vics 8-1 at Ogilvy Park.

Kieran Donald notched a hat-trick and there were singles from Calum Kirkcaldy, Darren Kelly and Martin Maher, plus a late double from Dale Smart. Craig Tosh scored for Vics. Kinnoull’s slim hopes remain intact after a 3-0 win over visiting Coupar Angus.

David Gray headed them in front after 14 minutes and Greg Whyte converted a penalty for the second on 31 minutes. Ben Ragan made it three early in the second half.

East Craigie chalked up their fifth straight home success with a 3-1 win over Newburgh.

Sean Reekie, Jon Rosscraig and Aiden Benvie were on target, while Kurtis McKenzie netted Newburgh’s goal.

Scone Thistle lost 3-0 to Blairgowrie at Farquharson Park.

Matt Adam opened the scoring after 14 minutes, and shortly afterwards Gary Axworthy doubled the lead.

An own goal after 64 minutes completed an unhappy afternoon for the hosts.

Whenever Lochee Harp play, goals appear guaranteed. The latest instance was at Lochore Welfare where the visitors staged a remarkable comeback from three down at the interval to win 4-3.

The Fifers went three up thanks to goals from James Adam, Reagan Lumsden and Dean Ewing.

A Josh Perera double, a Lloyd Young penalty and a Brad Millar strike earned Michael Gormley’s men the three points.
