Tayport rue missed chances

-

Tayport were left to rue the chances they missed in the first half as they were held at home by Thornton Hibs, whose unbeaten run stretches to nine games.

Charlie King’s side could easily have been three or four ahead.

In a more evenly contested second half they fell behind after 56 minutes, but justice was done as Dayle Robertson equalised 12 minutes from time.

Downfield collected three points with a 3-2 home win over St Andrews.

However, they almost blew it after going three up.

A Bryan Duell penalty after 22 minutes put the Spiders ahead.

He played a major part in their second on 39 minutes when Paul Quinn headed his free-kick into his own net.

It looked game over when Marc O’Leary’s sublime finish made it three just two minutes after the restart.

Within five minutes, Derek Wallace pulled one back.

Wallace’s penalty conversion made it a nervy last five minutes for the hosts.

Indeed, only a terrific save by Darren Clarkson in the final minute denied Saints a point.

Kirrie Thistle appeared on the verge of holding fellow relegation strugglers Arniston Rangers only to be denied by the visitors nicking a last-minute winner.

Mikey Deland scored the only goal of the game in the 90th minute to leave Thistle rock bottom.
