Dundee boss may miss Saints clash

SPFL: McCann awaits appeal decision for Perth side’s visit to Dens

- IAN ROACHE

Dundee manager Neil McCann will miss their first post-split fixture against St Johnstone unless he wins his appeal against a touchline ban.

The Dark Blues will kick off the bottom six programme against Saints at Dens Park after the SPFL finally announced the final rounds of games in the Premiership. They host Tommy Wright’s team on Saturday April 21, and the meeting of the Tayside two will bring back memories of the controversy that followed their last encounter on March 10.

McCann and Perth substitute goalie Zander Clark were involved in an incident after the 4-0 win for Saints and subsequently both were given twomatch penalties by the SFA after being found guilty of “excessive misconduct”.

Clark accepted his punishment and has now served his ban but McCann has appealed and the hearing will take place at Hampden on Tuesday.

In an ironic twist, should the SFA decide to uphold their original decision then he will be in the stand for that St Johnstone rematch and the trip to Motherwell the following Saturday.

Next up for Dundee after their Fir Park visit is a home meeting with Hamilton Accies on May 5, which will be televised by Sky.

The Dens men head north to Dingwall on Tuesday May 8, before bringing the curtain down on their campaign with a home clash with Partick Thistle on Saturday May 12.

Saints will follow their Tayside derby with a home game against the Jags on April 28 before travelling to play Motherwell on May 5.

Their Tuesday match will be away to Hamilton before they return to Perth on May 12 to face County.

The final Old Firm clash of the season will take place on Sunday April 29 when Celtic and Rangers meet at Parkhead.
