Triathlon club gets windfall from housebuilder’s award scheme
A thriving Perth sports group has scored a cash boost from a leading Scottish housebuilder.
The Perth Triathlon Group has been awarded £1,000 as part of the Persimmon Homes North Scotland Community Champions scheme.
The national match-funding initiative seeks to support groups and charities working to improve the quality of life or environment for local people.
Perth Triathlon Club has gone from strength to strength over the years and its 70 members range from novice to experienced.
Craig White, who chairs the club, said: “We’re thrilled to receive this generous donation from Persimmon Homes.
“The club is run by a group of dedicated voluntary coaches and committee members who aim to develop members’ love of triathlon.
“In 2017 the club won the prestigious small club Legends Ranking Series award, which recognises and rewards consistent participation at events.
“We are currently fundraising to provide additional swimming pool hire and equipment to support our new member inclusion programme.”
Iain Innes, managing director at Persimmon Homes North Scotland, said: “Our community champions initiative was established to support the groups and charities that make a real difference to the lives of local people in the areas in which we build.
“This month we are delighted to support the fundraising efforts of Perth Triathlon Group. Clubs like this are a great example of why we should support community sports teams.”
