Gowfers and Craigie into semis

Carnoustie Panmure marched into the semi -finals of the GA Engineering Cup and a clash with Stonehaven, following a comfortable 3-1 home win over Super League rivals Jeanfield.

The Gowfers took the lead on 11 minutes through Robert Urquhart before a second-half penalty from Jamie McCabe and an Adam Harwood goal saw Alan McSkimming’s side home despite a late consolation penalty from Swifts’ Tony Holt.

East Craigie came from behind to win at North End. Kieran Sturrock put the hosts in front on 52 minutes but Jon Rosscraig levelled things with 10 minutes left and Sean Reekie scored a winner two minutes from time to set up a semi-final with Hermes

Lochore Welfare put in a valiant performance in a 5-2 Fife & Lothians Cup third round loss at Prestonfield against Linlithgow Rose.

In the Super League, Broughty Athletic blew Forfar West End away in the first 10 minutes with goals from Jordan Garden and Fraser Smith. Jamie Winter added a third in the second half.

The result leaves West End rooted to the foot of the table.

Tayport were left with a nervy last 10 minutes at Thornton Hibs but held on to take all three Premier League points with a 3-2 win.

The home side took the lead on 11 minutes through Garry Thomson but two goals from Gary Sutherland had the visitors in the lead at the break.

Dale Robertson made it 3-1 on the hour, but a second goal for Hibs with 10 minutes left, from Andrew Adam, made it a little more tense than it needed to be for Charlie King’s men.

In the North League a secondhalf strike from Sam McDonald was the difference between the sides at Glenesk Park as Lochee Harp beat Blairgowrie 1-0.
