Positive schools inspections

-

Two Perthshire schools received glowing reports following visits by inspectors.

Alyth Primary School and Robert Douglas Memorial Primary School, Scone, were inspected by Education Scotland in January and February respectively.

At Alyth, the inspectors found good teamwork among the staff and noted that the children showed high levels of enthusiasm for learning and taking on further challenges.

The inspection team agreed with the school’s plans to improve staff skills to analyse data with the aim of raising children’s attainment further.

At Robert Douglas Memorial, the team remarked on the “very effective leadership” from the recently appointed head teacher and said the school’s “highly inclusive” ethos had a positive impact on pupil development. The inspectors will make no more visits to either of the schools in connection with these reports.

Conservative councillor Caroline Shiers, Perth and Kinross Council’s convener of education and lifelong learning, said: “I am pleased that the inspectors found evidence of good practice at Alyth and they noted the good teamwork of staff aimed at making improvements to children’s learning and experiences.

“The report from Robert Douglas proves the school is committed to delivering a high standard of learning and to make improvements through all stages of that learning.”
