A football fan has put club rivalries aside to offer a Perth woman her dying wish.

Tracey Halliday, 40, has been battling terminal womb cancer since 2015 and said her dying wish is to do something to say thank you to her “amazing husband”, Willie .

She married him the year she got her devastating diagnosis.

She appealed to her husband’s favourite club, Hibs, to do something for Willie.

Not only have Hibs promised a treat but Aberdeenshire businessman and ardent Hearts fan Crawford Hendy has been so moved by Tracey’s story he has offered to help out.

Crawford, 58, general manager of World Cargo Logistics, based in Kintore, said: “I may be a Hearts fan while Willie is a Hibs fan but I was incredibly moved by the couple’s story.

“I realised I was in a position to help out if Hibs offered to invite Willie and Tracey down to Easter Road.

“Through work, I run a fleet of cars and I would be delighted to make a car and driver available to take Tracey and Willie there.

“It would mean they could relax and enjoy the day without worrying how to get there and home again.

“Hibs and Hearts may be football rivals but it doesn’t mean we won’t help out a fellow football fan in a time of need.”

Hibs have said they will contact Tracey and Willie and organise something suitable.

A spokesman said: “We would be more than happy to facilitate something for them.”

Tracey said she was “overwhelmed” with the offers from the club and from Crawford. She said: “This is just incredible. Everyone has been so kind.

“It is my dying wish to be able to do something for Willie that involved Hibs.

“Now, not only for the club to get in touch and offer to do something but for this kind man in Kintore to offer us transport is just amazing.

“It just goes to show it doesn’t matter what team you support, there are people who will come to your aid regardless.”

Tracey said she is waiting to hear what Hibs have in mind but she has already been in touch with Crawford confirming they will take up his kind offer.

She said: “Although I’m in a wheelchair, I hope to be able to accompany Willie.”
