Deal struck for parking spaces
Balnacraig School has struck a deal it hopes will help alleviate car parking congestion in Errol.
The Perth school recently bought South Inchmichael Cottage, Station Road, to use for young people with complex emotional needs.
However, parking for staff and visitors became a problem, with cars said to be regularly parked on the busy road, posing a danger to other road users – particularly at night.
The school reached an agreement with the Morris Leslie Group, who own the surrounding land, to build additional space for vehicles.
Morris Leslie are now set to create a new car park for staff if a planning application is successful.
Conservative councillor Angus Forbes said: “This has been an issue for local residents for some months now and I have had a few constituents raise it with me. I spoke with the chief executive of Balnacraig, who was already aware of the issue and had in fact already started trying to resolve it.
“I am delighted that with the agreement of Morris Leslie, a solution seems to be found.
“I understand the planning applications will be made in the next few weeks and assuming that goes through the process successfully, then I hope work can begin before the summer and get the issue resolved.
“We welcome Balnacraig to Errol and look forward to working with them and I am grateful to them for their proactive approach in this matter.”
