Young auctioneers are taking charge

-

Young auctioneers will lead the charge at next month’s Stirling Bull Sales.

To coincide with the Scottish Government’s Year of Young People, United Auctions is using Ross Fotheringham, 27, Raymond Kennedy, 27, and Murray Rainnie, 30, to sell the bulls on May 6-7.

Next month’s sale has attracted 283 entries of pedigree bulls and females, including a record entry of Simmentals.

Entries comprise: 42 Charolais bulls; 73 Simmental bulls; 66 Limousin bulls and 12 Limousin females; nine Salers bulls; 12 Beef Shorthorn bulls; one Hereford bull; six Highland bulls; and 61 Aberdeen-Angus bulls and one Angus female.

United Auctions group sales director John Roberts said: “It’s great to see another breed record entry for Simmentals and we’re delighted to have the support of so many pedigree breeders who recognise the value of being part of the May Bull Sales.”

The event kicks off on the Sunday with pre-sale shows of Charolais, Simmental and Aberdeen-Angus. Shows of Limousin, Beef Shorthorn and Salers take place on the Monday along with all the sales.

The judges are: Neil Blyth of Middleton House Farm, Hartlepool, for Charolais; Chris Boyd, Ahoghill, Ballymena, for Simmental; John Duncan, Dyke Farm Cottage, Milton of Campsie, for Limousin; Ian Smith, Netherton, Whitehouse, Alford, for Salers; Cathryn Williamson, Balnespick Farm, Kincraig, for Beef Shorthorn, and Emma Hodge, Rulesmains, Duns, for Aberdeen-Angus.
