Bluebells looking to heal wounds

-

Tonight’s busy midweek card sees 10 matches involving Courier Country clubs with two Super League games pitching local clubs together.

At Thomson Park, Lochee United will try to pick themselves up after the weekend disappointment of falling at the penultimate hurdle in the Scottish Junior Cup when they meet Jeanfield.

Sitting seventh, the Bluebells have a minimum of four games in hand over all the sides above them, while Swifts, are battling to beat the drop as they are currently in the play-off position.

The other game is a basement battle in which second-bottom Kennoway Star Hearts host Forfar West End who, though two points worse off, have two games in hand.

Hill of Beath head to Bo’ness looking to complete the double after a 5-1 win in the first meeting, though the home side have lost just once in their last five outings.

In the DJ Laing East of Scotland Cup, Carnoustie Panmure must be favourites to progress at the expense of visitors Kirrie Thistle who prop up the Premier League.

The winners will meet Lochore Welfare at home on Monday.

Thonrton Hibs are also on knockout business with an away tie at South League Edinburgh United in the third round of the Fife & Lothians Cup.

Tayport have Downfield as guests in a local derby with the Spiders only missing Conor Ireland and boosted by Saturday’s win at Bathgate.

North End can take another step closer to clinching the North League title by winning away to Lochee Harp.

The Dokens require two wins from their last four games to be champions, but they will have noted that Harp held Violet to a goalless draw and were 4-0 winners at Arbroath Vics on Saturday.

Luncarty must win at home to Newburgh to keep their promotion hopes alive.

In the South League, Rosyth need a win at Harthill to prevent the Lothian side going level on points with them with five games in hand.

Lochgelly Albert will be favourites to win at bottom club Kirkcaldy YM.
