Fed face tough task away to leaders Rose

-

Broughty Athletic couldn’t have a tougher task than travelling to Bonnyrigg Rose who are league leaders and unbeaten at home.

However, the Fed did hold them to a goalless draw at Whitton Park in November. Both Derryn Kesson and Kieron McWalter are ruled out due to suspension.

Lochee United arrested a threegame losing streak by beating Forfar WE on Monday but blotted their copybook two days later by losing 2-1 away to lowly Kennoway.

Manager George Shields made changes on Wednesday and will do so again for the visit of Newtongrange, but Scott McComskie is suspended.

Hill of Beath host Jeanfield Swifts who were missing six regulars when they were hammered 7-0 by Carnoustie last weekend.

However, the Perth side are in a far better position this week with player/ boss Ross Gunnion, Lee Deans and Andy McKenzie all back, whilst fitness tests will decide if Rhys Davies and Tony Holt are also available, but Scott Mollison is ruled out.

Buoyed by their midweek win over Lochee United, Kennoway Star Hearts host fourth-placed Broxburn.

But they are still missing Mark Partridge and Ross Mutch. Meanwhile, Nicky McGowan, Scott Young and Nathan Doig all have slight niggles and have fitness checks.

Bottom side Forfar West End head to Camelon hoping to avoid a hattrick of away defeats in a week.

The Super League bottom markers lost 3-2 at Lochee United on Monday and then went down to by the odd goal in three at Carnoustie two days later.

Tayport entertain Tranent and must win if they are to keep their very outside chances of promotion alive.

Despite only being three points better off than ‘Port, Fauldhouse are very much favourites for second spot as they have three games in hand.

As they were 3-0 winners in the first meeting, Charlie King’s side must fancy their chances their chances of completing the double.

However, King’s squad is reduced to the bare bones. Kieran Conway, Dale Reid and Conor Ireland are all injured and coaches Grant Paterson and Darren Tenant are also absentees.

For their penultimate game of the season, St Andrews United head to Arniston Rangers.

New boss Alan Brown was highly encouraged by the goalless draw at Dunbar United a fortnight ago and he is looking for his charges to deliver a first win for him against a side has won just once at home.

Skipper Ryan McInnes is still suspended, whilst Ross Graham is still sidelined, but Stuart McDonald may make the bench.

After midweek wins over Thornton Hibs and Downfield, Glenrothes hope to make it a trio of victories against visitors Blackburn United.

Unfortunately, Wednesday’s win came at a cost with Conor Schiavone limping off and has been ruled out. In addition Lee Celentano is a major doubt and with Jack Small, Darren Ormiston and Graeme Walker all likely to miss the rest of the season, it is a good job there is daylight between them and the drop zone.

Bitterly disappointed by the midweek derby defeat to Glenrothes, Thornton Hibs face champions in waiting Musselburgh at Memorial Park. Indeed, a win for the Olivebank side would virtually assure them of winning the title, given their far superior goal difference.

Downfield collected a point following a 2-2 draw at bottom of the table Kirrie Thistle in midweek, but face a difficult game at home to promotion chasing Fauldhouse United.

Dale Davidson is still suspended. With just four games left Kirrie Thistle hopes avoiding the drop are slim, unless, of course, the impending reorganisation of the leagues saves them. Certainly, Thistle have tough task when hosting Haddington who are battling it out with Fauldhouse for second place.

Missing from the home ranks is Scott Drumm who starts a two-match ban.
