Fever spreads to Tayside and Fife
Royal wedding fever spread from Windsor to corners of Tayside and Fife yesterday as people got into the party spirit before the big day.
Arbroath Ladies Lifeboat Guild took matters into their own hands after failing to get an invitation to the festivities.
The ladies organised a pre-wedding celebration, with awards handed out for the best dressed “Meghan and Harry” and a prize raffle during the event at the Bell Rock Restaurant in the town.
In Dundee, staff and residents festooned Orchar nursing home with bunting and held a tea party.
St Andrews chef Alexander Haebe unveiled a replica of the royal wedding cake, standing an impressive 1.5m tall.
The Fairmont Hotel chef was putting the finishing touches to the nine-tier cake yesterday as staff prepared for a special royal afternoon tea today, with a live screening of the wedding.

Preparations were under way for a Royal-themed garden party with a difference taking place at Balhousie Ruthven Towers care home.
Instead of the traditional sun-soaked garden party, residents will enjoy a gardening party, donning wellies to plant shrubs around the home, while toasting the couple with a glass of champagne.
Musicians will perform throughout the day as the ceremony at Windsor Castle takes place.
Organiser Lisa McGraw said: “At Ruthven Towers, we host a garden party every year, but this one’s a bit special tying in with a royal wedding.
“Staff and residents are looking forward to the activities and sitting down to watch the wedding ceremony.”
Lambs with distinctly monarchial monickers will be getting in on the act as Balhungie Berry Farm in Monifieth marks their namesakes’ nuptials.
Bunting, big hats and berries galore are all the agenda, but despite the fuss the highlight of the day for little Harry and Meghan looks sure to be their midday bottle feed.
