Johnson agrees to another two years at East End Park

-

Allan Johnston has confirmed he has agreed a new deal to stay on as Dunfermline manager.

The Pars boss is out of contract this summer following three years at the helm at East End Park.

After winning the League One title and promotion back to the Championship in his first season, the former Hearts and Scotland winger steered the Fifers to the promotion play-offs this term after missing out 12 months ago.

That progress has convinced the Dunfermline board to stick with the 44-year-old and an agreement for another two years has been reached.

‘Magic’ has not yet put pen to paper on his fresh terms but insists rebuilding his squad is currently taking precedence.

He said: “It’s sorted, it has been agreed and everything is fine. It will get done when (chairman) Ross (McArthur) gets a minute.

“The most important thing is getting the players in. This time of year is always difficult because everybody wants to wait and look at their options.”

Dunfermline yesterday added midfielder Aaron Splaine to a list of departures that already includes Michael Paton, Conner Duthie and Scott Lochhead, while winger Fraser Aird received an 11th-hour offer from Dundee United and striker Nicky Clark is a wanted man.

Keeper Lee Robinson and midfielder James Craigen have both agreed 12-month extensions and defender Lee Ashcroft has signed a new two-year deal.
