New name on trophy after Tannadice final

-

The big game in Tayside this weekend is tomorrow at Tannadice as Carnoustie Panmure take on North League side Dundee East Craigie in the GA Engineering Cup final.

Both sides tasted defeat in midweek but fielded weakened teams having one eye on the final.

Both expect to be near full strength having allowed a few niggles extra-time to heal.

Whoever lifts the cup tomorrow will be a new name on the trophy with neither side having won it before.

A large crowd is expected with the teams being well supported by their communities. Kick-off at Tannadice is 1pm.

Dundonald Bluebell had to come from behind to defeat Carnoustie in midweek and go in to this weekend’s East of Scotland Cup quarter-final against Newtongrange Star with several selection issues.

Mark Forbes and Colin Wilson are injured while Ross Drummond is unavailable and Archie Campbell and Craig Wedderburn are suspended, meaning Bluebell are down to the bare bones for the last chance of silverware this season.

McBookie.com East Super League Forfar West End boss Daryl McKenzie is once more beyond bare bones as he prepares his side to welcome Hill of Beath to Strathmore Park.

His squad will have at least three trialists but he is able to welcome back Robbie George and Dale Robertson.

Hawws manager Kevin Fotheringham is expected to have the same squad available that beat Broughty Athletic last weekend

Lochee United left it late to take a point from their midweek visit to Broughty Athletic and George Shields knows his side will have to give much more as it visits Linlithgow Rose.

Rose still hold faint hopes of winning the Super League but would need a major slip-up by Bonnyrigg for that to happen.

Lochee expect to have the same squad available as travelled on Wednesday.

Jeanfield Swifts manager Ross Gunnion will have to change his back four for the trip to Penicuik with Chris Anton and Scott Mollison out injured. Otherwise the Perth side will have the same squad which beat Forfar West End 6-0 over a week ago.

McBookie.com East Premier League Tayport boss Charlie King is without three players for the trip to Bathgate Thistle.

King joins Craig Sturrock and Conor Ireland on the sidelines while Alan Tulleth, Ryan Suttie and Stewart McConnachie are all injured

Thornton Hibs face Blackburn United in the final junior game at New Murrayfield Park. It’s been a congested couple of weeks for Hibs and it doesn’t get any easier over the next week.

Kirrie Thistle have shown an upturn in form and results and they will need to maintain it as they head south to take on Dalkeith Thistle in what is the Lothian side’s final game as a junior club.

Thistle boss Chris Kettles is without Davie Miller, Abi Njie, Rory Bews and Alan Cruikshank but is able to bring back Connor Macleod and Ryan Stirton.

Glenrothes boss Willie Campbell is waiting on four players with knocks after the midweek defeat to Fauldhouse United but expects to have his strongest squad for a few weeks as they travel to Haddington Athletic.

Definitely out are goalkeepers Jack Small and Dion Gear while Jamie Leslie serves the last game of his suspension.
