Ex-council vehicles up for grabs

-

An auction of more than £3.5 million worth of council-owned vehicles will be held in Perthshire next week.

The annual sale, hosted by Morris Leslie Plant Auctions, will take place at Errol Airfield on Wednesday, May 30.

Organisers say council vehicles generate a lot of interest, because they undergo constant maintenance, ensuring they are kept to the highest standard.

This year’s auction is the biggest yet, with more than 60 HGVs entered to date.

With an approximate overall value of £3.5 million when brand new, the vehicles range from sweepers to traffic management vehicles right through to trucks with cranes.

Most of the vehicles are big name brands such as MAN, Mercedes, Iveco and DAF.

A spokesman for Morris Leslie said: “The auction house made its name from selling plant equipment and it lives up to its reputation with an impressive array of plant kit, big and small.”

Heavy plant includes JCB telehandlers and excavators, cranes and various mini diggers, as well as forklifts and ride-on mowers.

The spokesman said: “In the more specialised field, which always creates a lot of interest from the auction house’s global audience, a national marine company has entered boats and various miscellaneous marine items. The majority of lots are unreserved, meaning that bargains are there to be had.”
