Port hopes hit by defeat

-

Bathgate Thistle put a dent in Tayport’s hopes of finishing in the top three with a 2-1 win over Charlie Kings side at Creamery Park.

All the goals came in the second half. Sid Easton put Thistle in front on 66 minutes but Dale Robertson levelled it up with 15 minutes remaining and the Bathgate winner came four minutes from time from Aiden McKee.

Blackburn United were planning a party atmosphere at New Murrayfield Park as they played their last game as a junior club.

Unfortunately for them Thornton Hibs, who will remain a junior club, spoilt the party, winning 2-0.

Hibs took the lead in the first half through Adam Drummond before Garry Thomson made sure of the win with the second after the break.

Dalkeith Thistle were another of the clubs leaving junior football to be given a bloody nose as Kirriemuir Thistle pulled off an impressive 3-1 win at Kings Park.

Greg Fairweather put Kirrie in front after just seven minutes but Stewart Adams equalised for the home side on the half-hour.

The game looked to be heading for a draw until Stewart Farquharson put Kirrie back in front with five minutes remaining and Fairweather made sure a minute later with his second to make it 3-1.

Glenrothes’ injury-hit squad were undone by a Declan Quinn hat-trick at Haddington Athletic.

The Hi-Hi man scored after just three minutes with a header and then made it 2-0 on 34 minutes. His hat-trick was completed on the hour from the penalty spot after he had been fouled.
