Young farmers aiming for RHS to remember

-

Young farmers aged between 18 and 22 are to mark the Year of Young People by organising their organisation’s Royal Highland Show programme this year.

A team of 11, who were chosen from across Scotland, have been planning the event for more than six month.

The new ideas put forward for this year’s event include tractor pool, karaoke and giant board games.

Also, interactive banners, will supplement the established programme of stock judging, country cooks and the tug of war.

The organisation’s national chairman, David Lawrie, said younger members were always encouraged to become more confident about sharing their ideas and ambitions.

He added: “This is the perfect opportunity to do that.

“We are really happy to be supporting Year of Young People, so come and see what we have been up to at the show.”

The 11-strong organising group consists of Sandra Guthrie, Ewen Stewart, Hanna Cheape, and Jenny Brunton from the east of Scotland.

While Meghan Bremner and Katie Punler are representing the north, and Emma Harper, Ben McClymont, Lucy McClymont, Andrew McMillan and Chelsea Gaffney are from the west.
