Lane closures during M90 works
Nearly £500,000 of roadworks will begin on the M90 between Gairneybridge and Kinross starting next week.
The upgrade will see surfacing improvements carried out over a 1km stretch of the southbound carriageway.
From tomorrow, maintenance works on the M90 southbound carriageway between junction six (Kinross) and junction five (Gairneybridge) will be carried out over 12 days to repair and improve the concrete carriageway.
The M90 at this section is used by almost 12,000 vehicles a day and Bear Scotland said the improvements will considerably enhance the safety of the road.
Lane closures will be in place 7am to 7pm tomorrow to prepare the barriers ahead of the contraflow system being implanted on the main M90 from Wednesday morning.
No lane closures will be in place on Bank Holiday Monday or Tuesday, however a 50mph speed limit will be in place in both directions until the contraflow system comes into effect the following day.
The contraflow system and 50mph speed limit will be in operation continuously 24/7 throughout the works.
Andy Thompson, Bear’s north-east representative, said: “This £485,000 investment from Transport Scotland will allow us to carry out maintenance works to ensure our network continues to operate at the highest standard.”
