Bluebell meeting following applications deadline move

-

Dundonald Bluebell have called a meeting for next week following the news the East of Scotland League have surprisingly extended the deadline to applications to May 31.

This weekend they head to Albyn Park for a Super League game with Broxburn Athletic, who beat Lochee United in midweek.

Bluebell are without Colin Wilson, Mark Forbes and Lewis McKenzie through injury and expect to have at least one trialist in the squad.

Bonnyrigg Rose will be presented with the Super League trophy after their game at Hill of Beath.

Rose need a point to be mathematically sure of the title but their goal difference is so much better it is an irrelevance. Both sides play their final games as Junior clubs with both departing to the East of Scotland League. Hill of Beath expect to have the same squad available that drew with Dundonald on Monday night.

Jeanfield Swifts know a win at home to Kennoway Star Hearts could lead to them climbing out of the bottom three.

Kennoway were well beaten by Carnoustie at Laing Park on Wednesday night and Craig Johnstone is able to add Mark Partridge to the squad on duty in midweek. Jeanfield are able to welcome back Daniel Kelly, who missed last week’s win over Penicuik Athletic.

Carnoustie Panmure are in a real pickle as they head south to Prestonfield to take on Linlithgow Rose. Marc Walker and Pat Martin are both unavailable, while the Gowfers have injury worries over five other players and may be forced to include youth players and trialists.

Lochee United are in a similar position to Carnoustie as they have only 13 players available for the visit of Penicuik Athletic to Thomson Park.

It’s been a tough few weeks for United since they exited the Scottish Junior Cup to Auchinleck Talbot and manager George Shields will probably be glad the season comes to an end after this weekend’s game. The Lochee boss will be forced to draft in players from their amateur side to his squad.

In the Premier League, Downfield bring the curtain down on their season as they host Haddington Athletic.

The Lothian side should finish third before departing for the East of Scotland League. Paul Marr expects to have a full squad available for the game.

Glenrothes are still in with a chance of claiming a place in next season’s Super League such is the number of clubs departing the Junior set-up.

Two wins for Willie Campbell’s men and a slip up from their neighbours Thornton will see Glens take the third place in the top flight.

Campbell will have the same squad available for the visit of Whitburn that travelled to Fauldhouse in midweek with the addition of Aiden Anderson and Lee Celentano.

Tayport are guaranteed to be part of next season’s Super League but will want to go out on a high starting with the visit of Blackburn United to the Canniepairt. Port boss Charlie King is without Kieran Conway and Conor Ireland for the game.

Thornton Hibs know three points will be enough to guarantee their place in the top flight as they take on Dunbar United at the Memorial Ground.

Manager Craig Gilbert hopes to have the same squad available as was on duty for the midweek loss to Bathgate Thistle.

In the South League, Lochgelly Albert will be looking for three points from the trip to Stoneyburn to finish in the top five. A victory will see them jump over West Calder United, who currently hold that fifth place.
