Bin delays to be fully resolved

-

Dundee City Council has insisted issues with bin and recycling collections will be resolved this week.

West End representative Fraser Macpherson raised the alarm after residents in his ward and across the city experienced problems with pick ups.

“The issue does concern brown bins but is much wider than that,” Mr Macpherson said.

“I have been inundated with concerns from constituents about bin and recycling collections being late and missed – this covers other types of recycling and general waste collections too.

“The environment management staff have, to their credit, been prompt at reacting to my many specific constituent concerns but there is a clear resource issue given the extent of the problem and I have therefore written to the director of Neighbourhood Services asking about increased resources to tackle this fully and assurances that the quality of service will improve as a matter of urgency.”

The local authority admitted there had been issues with collections but confirmed crews had returned to the route on Saturday.

In an official release, the council said: “There are delays in brown bin collections for garden waste across Dundee.

“Any bins not collected on Saturday May 26 will be uplifted week commencing Monday May 28.”
