School scoops prize nomination

-

A Kinross school which looks after some of the most vulnerable children in Scotland has been shortlisted for an award next month.

Seamab School has been named as a finalist at the Scottish Social Services Awards, to be held on Wednesday.

It has been hailed for its “enlightened approach”.

The SSSA judges praised Seamab, noting strong leadership, vision and learning to improve culture while remaining focused on the needs of children.

The panel also recognised the school’s impact on children has been significant and, in some cases, life-changing.

Joanna McCreadie, CEO of Seamab, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be in the running for this year’s Scottish Social Services Awards.

“Seamab looks after some of the most vulnerable children in Scotland and so it is vital that our staff have the support to give their best to every child.

“We are very much looking forward to being part of the event and celebrating everyone who is making a difference in vulnerable people’s lives across Scotland.”

The awards aim to cut across boundaries, celebrate excellence and bring one of the country’s largest sectors together.

More than 100 applications were received this year, representing a mix of social services that have made a difference to people’s lives.
