TOWER VISITS

St John’s Kirk in Perth is offering the chance to visit the kirk tower.

The next in the series of guided visits will take place on Saturday, from 2-3.45pm.

There will also be a book sale, along with a coffee morning.

BRIDGE OF EARN

Mark Ruskell MSP, the Scottish Green representa­tive for Mid Scotland and Fife, is guest speaker at the Green Gathering at the Bridge of Earn Institute on Saturday from 2-4pm.

CHARITY VAN

The Blythswood Care Collection van will be making its monthly visit to Perth on Tuesday, from 11.30am to 1.30pm, at McDiarmid Park.

The van accepts donated goods. These are then sold in Blythswood’s charity shops around Scotland.

KINCLAVEN Woodland Trust Scotland has received a cheque for £1,000 from potato supplier Branston to support Kinclaven Bluebell Wood.

The trust bought the wood last year thanks to a gift in the will of a long-standing supporter. Since then it has been raising funds to manage and expand the woodland.

VOLUNTEERS

Perth’s annual volunteer street market takes place on June 9 and will be situated on King Edward Street.

Provost Dennis Melloy will open the event at 10am, supported by Perth and District Pipe Band.

BIRNAM

Dean Dunbar, a registered blind adventurer and public speaker, is giving a talk in the Birnam Arts Centre on June 5.

He will be recounting an expedition he undertook last year, paddleboar­ding from North Uist to St Kilda.
