You could really clean up with this regal job
The Queen wants a washer-up who must be willing to travel around her residences – including as far away as Balmoral in Scotland.
‘Their Royal Dryness’ will be based at Buckingham Palace but must be prepared to travel with their dishcloth away with ‘The Firm’ on their trips to Windsor, Sandringham, Balmoral and the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh when the household moves around.
The travel to other Royal residences has been made a requirement for the £17,362-a-year job, which includes the offer of accommodation and meals “for which there is a salary adjustment”.
The General Catering Assistant (Wash Up) – as it has been formally described – will mainly work in the staff restaurant of the Royal Household.
“You’ll join a committed catering team who work together to prepare and serve food to the very highest standards,” says the advert on the Royal website.
“By maintaining the clear-up areas, you’ll ensure our chefs and assistants have all they need to deliver meals throughout the day.
“And whether you’re based at Buckingham Palace or, when required, travelling to another residence, you’ll look forward to whatever challenge comes your way.
“Our excellent training will provide you with all the skills you need, and so experience isn’t essential.
“More important is that you’re a natural team player, happy to get involved, use initiative and work with your colleagues to achieve a smooth daily service.
“You clearly take care and pride in your work, and so aim to deliver great results in all that you do.
“In return, you can look forward to working in a unique and stimulating work environment, and be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, including 33 days holiday, a 15% employer contribution pension scheme and meals on duty. The role also offers the option to live-in (for which there is a salary adjustment).”
Applications close on June 7.
