Plan to add sun rooms to homes
Developers behind the biggest housing scheme ever seen in Perth look likely to gain approval from the council for a separate plan to add sun rooms on to 62 of the homes.
The first brick was laid on what will become a 3,000 house development in April.
The sprawling 333-hectare Bertha Park development will include a primary school, shops, restaurants and leisure and community facilities once complete.
Work has already begun on the associated Bertha Park high school.
The site is located just off the Inveralmond roundabout.
The sun rooms are described by the developers as being necessary to provide additional living space on a ground floor level. Members of Perth and Kinross Council’s development management committee will once again discuss the site tomorrow.
A report has been drafted by Anne Condliffe, the local authority’s interim development quality manager. It will recommend approval of a plan by developers Springfield for a change of house use on 62 homes to incorporate the sun rooms.
In Ms Condliffe’s report, she says: “The development is considered to comply with the strategic development plan, TAY plan and the local development plan.
“Bertha Park is a strategic site and a key element in delivering the land requirement for the Perth core area.”
