Last weekend saw Donna Lochtie’s Mawcarse Lady Dionne win the Central Scotland Shetland Pony Group’s spring show at Howe Equestrian.

Picked out to win the supreme championship by judges Bernard and Rosemary Rees of the Hasguard stud in Pembrokeshire, this black eight-yearold standard mare was bred by Donna’s aunt, the late Janet Murray, and is by Stow Vulcan and out of Hawkdale Dixie.

The reserve supreme honours went to the miniature champion, Alichbrae Shetlands’ Alichbrae Cassius. Shown by Kirsty Mackay, this four-year-old stallion is by Kerswell Montgomery and out of North Wells Candie.

It was Mawcarse Joules which took the supreme junior championship for Mawcarse Shetlands. This standard filly is another by Stow Vulcan and is out of Mawcarse Elisha. She took the group championship at the November show in Stirling.

Reserve junior was Milday Morse from Matthew Johnstone. By Tawna Rubus, this miniature colt is out of Milday Attraction. Morse was also reserve champion miniature.

The reserve standard section rosette went to John Watson’s Kerloch Rupert.

By Stow Review, he is out of Burnbank Veda.

The ridden championship was awarded to Rowan Stacy-Marks aboard Almondell Vulcan, while Anna Marshall took the reserve on Harviestoun Rhuri.

Eight-year-old Anna was also champion young handler.
